Reflecting on Success: Highlights from #LeadLikeAGirl and the Black Diplomats Academy's Final Newsletter of the Year

Embracing the winter's crisp embrace and the shimmering glow of festive lights adorning each street corner, we extend our heartfelt greetings to you in this enchanting month of December. Welcome to the concluding edition of our newsletter for the year, where we bid farewell to 2023 with gratitude, joy, and a sprinkle of magic. In the past month, we hosted a variety of events, including the grand opening of the Black Diplomats Academy and the Lead Like A Girl Program. Without further delay, let's take a stroll down memory lane and revisit all the noteworthy activities that unfolded!

1️⃣ Black Diplomats Academy Cohort Applications Now Open:

Exciting news! We are pleased to announce that applications for the 4th cohort of our Black Diplomats Academy are officially open. This year's theme, "Creating Change in Real Time," focuses on empowering individuals to make a positive impact through digital innovation. If you or someone you know is interested in joining this transformative program, be sure to submit your application before January 8th, 2024.

2️⃣ Black Diplomats Academy Open House:

To provide a deeper insight into the BDA and its curriculum, we recently hosted a captivating open house session. Participants had the opportunity to grasp the program's objectives, explore the dynamic curriculum, and gain insights into the real-world applications of digital technologies. The session also included a Q&A period, allowing attendees to have their questions answered by our knowledgeable team.

3️⃣ Black Diplomats Academy Career Fair:

Our commitment to supporting the professional journeys of our alumni and current fellows led us to organize an exclusive career fair for BDA participants. This event served as a platform for them to connect with potential employers, explore job opportunities, and kickstart their careers in the digital realm. We take pride in their achievements and eagerly anticipate their continued success.

4️⃣ Lead Like A Girl Parliamentary Diplomacy:

Following our Senate Trip in Ottawa, the Lead Like A Girl program ventured into the parliamentary diplomacy section of its curriculum. During this phase, participants had the privilege of meeting with three esteemed senators—Marilou McPhedran, Wanda Thomas Bernard, and Kim Pate. Together, they delved into the senators' work on crucial bills and collaborated to create recommendations that will benefit children in the participants' communities. It was a truly enlightening and impactful experience!

Additionally, we are thrilled to share that we concluded our 3rd cohort of the Black Diplomats Academy with a spectacular Graduation Gala in Ottawa. This event celebrated the achievements and hard work of our fellows over the past 11 months, marking a significant milestone in their journey.

As the year comes to a close, we express our heartfelt gratitude for the incredible journey we've shared. This year has been marked by growth, achievements, and the unwavering support of our extraordinary community. As we approach the holiday season, we'll be taking a break to spend quality time with loved ones. Our doors will be temporarily closed from December 15th, 2023, to January 8th, 2024, allowing our team to reflect on the year's successes and plan for an even more exciting future. Your loyalty, enthusiasm, and contributions have made this year truly special, serving as the driving force behind our accomplishments. We eagerly anticipate returning on January 8th, rejuvenated and ready to continue this amazing journey with you. Wishing you a joyous holiday season and a Happy New Year!

Warm regards,
